Painting peonies

This is the current panting on my easel...acrylics for a change, I'd quite forgotten how quickly they dry, which is nice on one hand and then really annoying on the other! I haven't tried the slow drying open acrylics and maybe that would be the answer. 

I am tempted to do another one or maybe even two to make a triptych...these peonies certainly lend themselves well and the colours are just glorious.

I perhaps need to make a plan to grow some of my own peonies next year, although I'm not sure I'd ever pull off some as beautiful as these ones...they are absolutely breathtaking and the scent is heavenly.
